“It was easy to see the limitations of traditional energy efficiency practices during my years as an engineer and manager for resource giants. The ‘old school’ approaches to energy reduction management are top-heavy with engineering expensive upgrades and ‘dumb’ monitoring. They often have little weighting on behavioural change and converting their monitored data into useful business intelligence. Site operations staff are ‘too busy’ with competing priorities, so it’s easier for them to let third parties arrange capital projects they don’t need to get involved with.” says Edwards.

“In the past, if a Board actually approved a capital budget for the energy efficiency improvements, there would a delay of at least several months before they got underway. Things are changing. Climate change has emerged as an immediate issue, with the corporate boards rushing to get their house in order. It takes more than calculating your carbon footprint, corporate image control, and calculating the cost of carbon offsets if you intend to be a sustainable organisation. If they think they are in a position to ‘man-up’ for compliance after sleeping on climate change so long, they have some hard work ahead” warns Edwards.

The core of E2M® is driven by artificial intelligence, specifically for complex statistics tasking. E2M® energy managers use it to easily define the organic effects of human behaviour and environmental conditions, with the scientific effects of engineering hardware efficiency and thermodynamics against energy use. It’s then used to optimise energy consumption, costs and emissions for the production activity. We make sure their organisation is running as energy-efficiently and cleanly as possible while verifying their bills, emissions, regulatory compliance and coordinating their supply.
